Minimum spend is the amount a table or group must consume at your venue during the event. It’s commonly used for reservation bookings where the ticket or table booking is free (or low-cost), but guests commit to spending a certain amount on food and drinks.Documentation Index

How minimum spend works
You set a minimum spend amount on a reservation booking tier. When customers complete their booking, they see and acknowledge the minimum spend requirement. The commitment is made at booking time — collection is handled by your venue team on the night.Note: XO captures the minimum spend commitment during booking, but it does not automatically charge or enforce it. Your venue staff are responsible for tracking and collecting against the minimum during the event.
Minimum spend formula
Minimum spend can be configured per unit (per table) and/or per person:Example — VIP Table
- Min spend per table: €100
- Min spend per person: €30
- Customer books: 1 table for 4 people
Setting minimum spend on a booking tier
- Open the booking tier editor in the admin panel.
- Find the Minimum Spend section.
- Enter the minimum spend per unit (per table/area) — leave at 0 if not applicable.
- Enter the minimum spend per person — leave at 0 if not applicable.
- Save the tier.
How customers see minimum spend
During the booking flow, customers see a clear summary of the minimum spend commitment before they pay:“This reservation has a minimum spend of €220 for 4 guests.”This sets expectations and avoids surprises on the night.
