A recurring event is an event that takes place on a regular schedule — for example, every Friday night or every Saturday. Instead of creating a separate event for each date, you create one event and define a recurrence rule. XO automatically generates individual occurrences based on your schedule.Documentation Index

When should I use a recurring event?
Use recurring events for:- Weekly nights or residencies (e.g., “Friday Night Sessions — every Friday”)
- Monthly events with the same format
- DJ series or regular club nights
Setting up a recurring event
- When creating or editing an event, look for the Recurrence section.
- Toggle on This is a recurring event.
- Choose the recurrence pattern:
- Weekly — Select which days of the week (e.g., every Friday)
- Custom — Specific dates
- Set a start date and optionally an end date for the series.
- Save the event.
How do bookings work for recurring events?
When a customer books a recurring event, they must select a specific occurrence (date). Each occurrence has its own availability — selling out one Friday doesn’t affect the next.- Customers see the event once on the listing but can choose their preferred date before booking.
- Booking tiers (ticket types and pricing) are shared across all occurrences by default.
Note: Pre-sale pricing is not available on recurring events. All occurrences use the same standard pricing.
How do I manage bookings per occurrence?
In the Events & Bookings section of the admin panel:- Select your event from the event dropdown.
- Use the Occurrence filter to select a specific date.
- You’ll see only the bookings for that occurrence.
Can I cancel a single occurrence?
You can change the status of individual occurrences. To cancel a specific date without cancelling the entire event series, contact support at support@thexo.app or update the occurrence availability directly. Can I combine recurring events with sub-events?
Yes. You can have a recurring parent event that also contains sub-events. Each sub-event can have its own recurrence or inherit the parent’s schedule. See What are sub-events? for more. How do customers see recurring events?
In the XO app:- The customer sees your event listed once.
- When they tap Book Now, they’re prompted to choose an occurrence (date) first.
- Once they select a date, they proceed to pick a booking tier and complete their booking.
